Term: Temporary Full-Time, Six (6) Month Contract

This is currently posted at 6 months so half that amount. Hoping to convert this role to permanent early 2027.

Salary: $145K or $74/hr

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month.

We're looking for a Lead Technology Architect to help define and execute the future technology vision for our Insurance Technology organization.

In this role, you'll work closely with business and technology leaders to design scalable, modern solutions that enhance customer experiences , a ccelerate digital transformation, and support long-term business growth . You'll serve as a trusted technology advisor, champion AI-driven ways of working, and provide architectural leadership across a diverse portfolio of platforms and solutions.

Working alongside Solution Architects, Engineering Leaders, DevOps teams, and Agile delivery squads, you'll play a key role in modernizing our technology ecosystem while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and strategic objectives.

What You'll Do

- Shape and influence technology strategy by identifying and recommending emerging technologies, architectural patterns, and innovation opportunities.
- Lead the adoption of AI-powered capabilities across the Insurance IT organization, with a focus on improving software development lifecycle (SDLC) efficiency, quality, and productivity.




- Provide hands-on architectural leadership and full-stack technical expertise to solve complex business and technology challenges.
- Establish and promote architecture governance, standards, best practices, and solution review processes.
- Evaluate technology platforms and define architectural principles that guide solution design and implementation.
- Develop and maintain enterprise technology roadmaps in partnership with business stakeholders and IT leadership.
- Drive modernization initiatives and technology lifecycle planning to ensure sustainable, future-ready solutions.
- Assess current-state architecture, identify gaps and risks, and recommend strategic improvements.
- Collaborate across application, infrastructure, security, and platform teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture objectives.
- Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, scalability, reliability, and other non-functional requirements while maintaining appropriate documentation standards.

What You'll Bring

- Proven experience designing and delivering greenfield solutions that align with customer journeys, business objectives, and Human-Centered Design principles.




- Strong experience integrating third-party and vendor platforms , including managing strategic technical vendor relationships.
- Deep full-stack engineering experience with the ability to architect solutions across both contemporary cloud-native platforms and legacy enterprise environments.
- Expertise in cloud-native architecture, 12-Factor application design, Azure services, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions.
- Strong understanding of architectural patterns including Microservices, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Event-Driven Architecture, and Event Sourcing.
- Practical experience leveraging AI technologies, agents, and large language models to improve engineering productivity and software delivery outcomes.
- Extensive experience with APIs, event streaming, messaging platforms, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and enterprise integration patterns.
- Hands-on development experience building modern web applications using technologies such as .NET/C#, Angular, React, SQL Server , and related frameworks.
- Solid understanding of data architecture, integration design, orchestration platforms, and information management practices.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive technology experience , complemented by an advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
