Your Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to provide occupational therapy, and physical therapy supports in a community-based setting. The settings include, but are not exclusive to, AHS clinics and homes using both virtual and in person supports.

The Therapy

Assistant assists the Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in the collection of information to support the assessment of children.

The Therapy

Assistant is also responsible for preparing and delivering intervention to assigned clients at the universal, targeted, and client population levels.

Assistant provides services to individuals, families and a variety of community partners. This position reports to the Manager, Allied Health Community.

Description

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams.

You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Pediatric Community Rehabilitation Primary Location: East Edmonton Health Centre Location Details: Eligible to work hybrid (on/off site) within Alberta Multi-Site: Multisite FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 25-AUG-2026 Employee Class: Regular Full Time Date Available: 07-SEP-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 60 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings Days Off: Saturday/Sunday Minimum Salary: $27.44 Maximum Salary: $34.39 Vehicle Requirement: Driver's License, Vehicle Required

Required Qualifications

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications

Experience with Connect Care.

Experience with virtual service delivery. CPR certification, Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal/public relations skills are required as are excellent communication skills. 2-5 years of recent Pediatric Occupational/Physical Therapy service delivery experience. Proven ability to meet or exceed service activity targets.

The successful applicant practices in alignment with legislation as well as qualified, organizational and program policies, procedures and practice guidelines (including meeting workload targets). As such, the incumbent must achieve a successful passing grade in observations of clinical practice in the probationary/trial period and annually.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity or experience working with Torticollis considered an asset. Experience supporting Therapy Assistant Students considered an asset. Group service delivery experience considered an asset. Able to prioritize work. Able to be an effective team member. Able to maintain confidentiality. Strong commitment to customer service. Able to deal courteously and effectively with clients.
