Timbel Limited is a sewer and watermain construction company located in the Greater Toronto Area. Having been incorporated in 1987, Timbel has completed many complex and intricate municipal projects which include the installation of sanitary forcemains, storm and sanitary sewers including deep, vertical, closed-sheathing trenches, and watermains. Available Positions:

(Minimum of 4 years’ experience in sewer/watermain industry is required)

Topman/woman

Works at the surface alongside an open trench, supporting the pipelayer and excavator operator during the installation of underground infrastructure. The topman is the link between the trench and the rest of the crew. They lay out grade, report to the Supervisor, pass materials down, keep the edge of the excavation clear and safe, and act as the eyes for anyone working below grade.

Key Duties:

- Follow Timbel's Health and Safety Program at the Field Level
- Rig and sling pipe, fittings, valves, hydrants, catch basins, and maintenance-hole sections; guide loads into the trench and give hand signals to the operators
- Pass down tools and other components to the workers in the trench




- Set up and maintain trench protection — trench boxes, shoring, ladders, edge protection, barricades, etc.
- Assist with grade: run laser/level rod, check invert elevations and slope, mark stations
- Coordinate bedding and backfill assist with installation as required
- Serve as attendant/watch for confined-space entries (maintenance holes, chambers) and monitor gas detection
- Cut and prep pipe, make joints, assist with service connections and tie-ins
- Traffic control and spotting around moving equipment; keep the work zone and site clean
- Locate and protect existing utilities; hand-dig around live services

An AZ/DZ licence for any position would be an asset Timbel Limited is affiliated with LIUNA Local 183 and IUOE Local 793. Field employees must either be part of one of these unions or have the intention to join.

All unionized employees will be compensated according to the 183/793 compensation and benefits package.
