Arctic Tours Canada is seeking friendly, responsible, and enthusiastic Tour Guides to join our team in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

As a Tour Guide, you will provide welcoming, informative, and memorable experiences for guests visiting Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories. Our tours may include Aurora viewing, Aurora hunting, city sightseeing, Cameron Falls hiking, and other seasonal outdoor activities.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, is comfortable working outdoors and during evening/night hours, and has a strong commitment to guest service, safety, teamwork, and professionalism.

Previous tourism experience is an asset, but we also welcome candidates with strong communication and customer-service skills who are willing to learn. Training will be provided.

Duties

- Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional customer service throughout the tour.
- Conduct guided tours and provide interesting and accurate information about Yellowknife, the Northwest Territories, local attractions, history, culture, nature, and the Aurora.
- Clearly explain tour itineraries, schedules, meeting points, safety procedures, and activity requirements to guests.
- Follow company safety procedures and ensure guests follow guide instructions and activity safety requirements.
- Assist guests during Aurora viewing, outdoor activities, sightseeing tours, hiking tours, and other seasonal experiences.
- Help prepare and organize tour equipment, guest supplies, refreshments, and other items required for each tour.
- Perform guest check-in and confirm guest information and bookings when required.




- Communicate with drivers, other guides, supervisors, and office staff to ensure tours operate smoothly and on schedule.
- Monitor weather, road, and outdoor conditions and promptly report safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist guests with basic Aurora photography and camera settings when trained to do so.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of tour vehicles, guest areas, equipment, and company facilities.
- Assist with loading and unloading tour equipment and guest belongings when required.
- Handle guest questions, concerns, and unexpected situations calmly and professionally.
- Complete tour reports, incident reports, or other required documentation.
- Represent Arctic Tours Canada professionally and help create a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest.
- Perform other reasonable tourism and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, patient, responsible, and customer-service oriented.
- Comfortable speaking to and leading groups of guests from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual,



and able to follow schedules and company procedures.
- Comfortable working evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and variable schedules during the tourism season.
- Able to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, including cold winter temperatures.
- Physically able to walk, stand for extended periods, and assist with normal tour equipment and supplies.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm in unexpected situations.
- Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, customer service, outdoor recreation, or guiding is an asset.
- Knowledge of Yellowknife, the Northwest Territories, Aurora Borealis, local history, and attractions is an asset.
- Aurora photography knowledge or photography experience is an asset.
- English communication skills are required.
- Additional languages such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, or French are considered a strong asset.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
- A valid driver's licence is an asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Willingness to complete company training and follow all Arctic Tours Canada safety policies and operating procedures.
