Tow ManagerJob Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Tow Manager to oversee and coordinate our daily towing and vehicle recovery operations. The Tow Manager will work closely with tow truck drivers to plan daily assignments, manage schedules, ensure trucks are properly maintained and inspected, and maintain high standards of safety and service.

The ideal candidate must have AZ heavy wrecker experience, excellent planning and scheduling skills, strong knowledge of current TSSA and MTO regulations, and the ability to train, supervise, and monitor new and existing drivers. This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage people, equipment, inventory, documentation, and daily operations in a fast-paced towing environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations & Scheduling

- Plan and coordinate daily towing and vehicle recovery operations with tow truck drivers.
- Prepare daily schedules, routes, assignments, and dispatch plans to ensure efficient use of drivers and equipment.
- Monitor daily operations and make adjustments when emergencies, breakdowns, or schedule changes occur.
- Ensure all towing assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Maintain clear communication with drivers, customers, dispatch, management, and external partners.
- Coordinate multiple trucks, drivers, and recovery assignments while prioritizing urgent and emergency calls.

Heavy Wrecker Operations
- Provide operational leadership for AZ heavy wrecker and heavy-duty recovery operations.
- Ensure drivers follow proper towing, recovery, loading, securing, and transportation procedures.
- Support drivers with difficult or specialized recovery situations when required.
- Ensure equipment is used properly and safely according to manufacturer and company procedures.

Truck Maintenance & Inspections
- Take full responsibility for coordinating and monitoring the maintenance of the towing fleet.
- Schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, servicing, and safety inspections for trucks and towing equipment.
- Monitor truck condition and ensure mechanical issues are reported and addressed promptly.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records for each truck and piece of equipment.
- Conduct or coordinate regular truck inspections and ensure required inspection documentation is completed.
- Prevent vehicles with safety or mechanical concerns from being placed into service until properly repaired.

Driver Supervision & Training
- Supervise tow truck drivers and monitor their daily routines, performance, attendance,



and compliance with company procedures.
- Train and mentor new employees on towing operations, safety procedures, company policies, equipment use, and customer service standards.
- Develop and maintain effective onboarding and training routines for new drivers.
- Monitor new employees during their initial training period and provide coaching and feedback.
- Ensure all drivers understand and follow applicable safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a professional, respectful, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.

Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable TSSA and MTO regulations, requirements, and standards affecting towing and transportation operations.
- Ensure drivers, trucks, equipment, and daily operations remain compliant with applicable regulations.
- Monitor required inspections, documentation, licensing, and safety requirements.
- Ensure company safety policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Investigate and document accidents, incidents, equipment damage, and safety concerns.
- Communicate regulatory or operational changes to drivers and management and implement necessary procedures.

Inventory & Equipment Control
- Take control of inventory for trucks, recovery equipment, tools, straps, chains, safety equipment, and other operational supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor usage and replacement requirements.
- Ensure each truck is properly equipped before being dispatched.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and identify missing, damaged, expired, or replacement-required equipment.
- Coordinate ordering and restocking of necessary supplies.

Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for management.
- Track towing assignments, completed calls, driver activity, truck utilization, maintenance, inspections, incidents, and other key operational information.
- Maintain accurate records of truck inspections, maintenance, inventory, training, and employee performance.
- Use Microsoft Excel to prepare schedules, tracking sheets, reports, and operational summaries.




- Review operational data to identify problems, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience managing or supervising towing and vehicle recovery operations.
- AZ licence with proven heavy wrecker / heavy-duty towing experience.
- Strong knowledge and practical understanding of heavy-duty towing and recovery operations.
- Excellent planning, scheduling, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of current TSSA and MTO regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience supervising, training, and mentoring tow truck drivers.
- Ability to train new employees and monitor their progress and daily routines.
- Strong knowledge of truck maintenance, inspections, and preventative maintenance scheduling.
- Experience managing fleet equipment and inventory.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to prepare skilled operational reports.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workplace and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, accountability, and excellent customer service.

Preferred Skills
- Heavy recovery and accident recovery experience.
- Experience managing multiple tow trucks and drivers.
- Experience with dispatching and route planning.
- Knowledge of fleet maintenance systems and inspection procedures.
- Strong computer and administrative skills.
- Ability to analyze operational data and identify process improvements.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergency recovery situations.

Key Performance Expectations The Tow Manager will be expected to:

- Produce accurate and timely reports using Excel.
- Monitor driver performance and daily routines.
- Identify operational problems and implement practical solutions.
- Maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service.

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
