Job Summary

Stability Now Co-ordinator

Hours: 37.5/week (Days, evenings, some weekend, and on-call hours required).

Rate of Pay: $51,000/year

Number of Positions: 1, 12-month contract

Inn From the Cold (IFTC) strives to meet the needs of people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in York Region. We work with the community and collaborate with our partners to support those with basic to complex needs. IFTC’s work is housing-focussed and trauma-informed, offering a continuum of services and programmes that allow us to partner with our clients on their journeys out of homelessness.

IFTC promotes a healthy, safe workplace and has created an intentional culture of wellness for all staff, volunteers, and clients.

Stability Now is Inn From the Cold’s transitional housing program. The program, currently located at our 510 Penrose Street location houses 5 individuals who are working towards accomplishing identified goals that will help them move forward in the housing continuum. We anticipate moving to our new location at 17046 Yonge Street in Newmarket and expanding the program to serve 18 individuals this fall.

Stability Now Job Responsibilities:

Work closely with the program and shelter team to provide formal and informal support to the individuals in the Stability Now program.

· Implement/Facilitate the Stability Now program model as designed

· Conduct weekly 1 on 1 sessions with clients, bi-weekly house meetings, and follow-up with any additional support that may be needed, including but not limited to medical appointments, court proceedings, financial assistance, employment search, etc.

· Assist with goal setting and follow-through

· Ensure rent is paid in full and on-time

· Ensure all documents are completed in full and kept in secure location

· Troubleshoot any conflicts that arise between clients

· Conduct room inspections on a regular basis

· Collect program statistics as directed

· Represent the program in the community

· Attend meetings as required

· Other duties as assigned





· Be an ambassador for the Stability Now program and Inn From The Cold

· At all times, model the behaviour and problem-solving skills we wish to see in our program participants

· Develop good working relationships with community partner agencies and other support workers/services

· Foster collaborative efforts to provide clients with a wide variety of supports to address their often-complex needs

· Refer and connect participants to relevant services including CMHA, addiction services, healthcare, identification etc.

Administrative/Communication:

- Case notes and incident report and documentation
- Document client goals
- Data collection and reporting, as required (with support from supervisor)
- Participate in bi-monthly one-on-one supervision meetings and an end of contract performance review with the Housing Manager
- Participate in all staff meetings
- Clean driving abstract, valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with an insurance rider ($2M liability) to transport clients is required (costs can by covered by IFTC)

Health & Safety: · Ensure all Health & Safety, psychological wellness, and IPAC guidelines are followed as per IFTC policies

· Adhere to all IFTC policies, including Working off-site, Confidentiality & Maintaining Professional Boundaries policies

· Report any relevant health & safety concerns to the Housing Manager

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

· Degree/Diploma in social/human services field or other relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

· Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally

· Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills specific to the role, including de-briefing, active listening, conflict resolution, problem solving,



and the ability to form supportive relationships with marginalized individuals

· Strong risk assessment skills, with an ability to support clients in distress and de-escalate challenging situations/crises

· Demonstrated ability to participate and contribute in a team workplace with an inclusive collaborative approach, and engage in trauma-informed practice

· Ability to work under minimal supervision and act with a high degree of independent judgement, taking action on a variety of matters as required

· Ability to work in a stressful and changing work environment and juggle multiple priorities

· Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback

· Knowledge and understanding of the issues associated with homeless and/or socially isolated adults

· Knowledge of concurrent disorders and experience with the continuum of addiction and mental health services

· Knowledge of housing programs and familiarity with Residential Tenancies Act/LTB

· Demonstrated commitment to continual learning in providing services to the homeless population

· Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

· Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check, prior to first day of work

· Current First Aid and CPR certificate, prior to first day of work

· Food handling certificate an asset
