Marine Security Guard – Ship Hold Attending & Access Control

National Port Security Services (NPSS) is seeking reliable and professional Security Guards to support marine security operations throughout the region.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Access Control

- Maintain effective access control at assigned locations.
- Follow established escalation procedures and reporting paths.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs throughout access control duties.
- Ensure all required paperwork is accurate and legible.

Ship Hold Attending

- Maintain and operate gas detection equipment, including Tango TX2x and Ventis Pro 5 pumps.
- Conduct accurate testing of gas levels within ship holds.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all initial gas readings.
- Understand the established low and high limits for all gases being tested.
- Immediately escalate gas alarms and ensure the required evacuation procedures are followed.
- Re-test the ship hold following an alarm or evacuation as required.
- Maintain communication with the Permit Issuer during initial testing and all required re-testing.
- Ensure all documentation and testing records are completed accurately and legibly.




- Follow all site-specific procedures and safety requirements.

Location & Mobility Requirements Candidates must be available and able to travel to the following locations:
- Ajax: Availability to commute for Ajax Track duties.
- Colborne: Availability and mobility to commute for ship tie-ins.
- Bowmanville: Most frequent location; availability and mobility to commute for ship tie-ins.

Requirements
- Valid Security Guard Licence.
- Access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to travel between assigned locations.
- Robust attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to follow established procedures and escalation protocols.
- Ability to work independently in a safety-sensitive environment.
- Comfortable working around marine/industrial operations.
- Open availability for a minimum of 35 hours per week.

Previous experience with marine security, ship holds, gas detection equipment, or industrial safety is considered an asset. Pay: From $18.50 per hour
