Matrix HR is recruiting a Career Development Facilitator on behalf of a client in Edmonton. This is a meaningful opportunity for an employment-services professional who is passionate about helping learners build confidence, develop job-ready skills, and connect with work experience and long-term employment. The Career Development Facilitator will support learners through their full employment journey, from training and job-search preparation to work placements, employer introductions, and post-placement support. You will also build relationships with employers, community organisations, and referring agencies to create more opportunities for learners across multiple sectors. Key Responsibilities
Lead the administration and delivery of assigned training, career-development, work-experience, and job-placement programs.
Provide job-search support through group facilitation, one-to-one learner coaching, resume and cover-letter development, mock interviews, and employment-readiness guidance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, employment partners, community organisations, and referring agencies.
Develop job leads and create networking opportunities that connect learners with prospective employers.
Identify suitable work-experience and placement opportunities based on each learner's goals, skills, and abilities.
Conduct regular learner and employer follow-up after placement to support retention, address concerns, and monitor employment outcomes
Create and maintain training calendars, learner databases, program proposals, and other program documentation.
Gather current labour-market information, including job openings, entry requirements, skills requirements, and regional employment trends.
Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on learner journeys, employment outcomes, partner activity, and program deliverables.
Coordinate workforce-development events, including employer open houses, and assist with marketing materials that promote program and placement activities.
Manage program supplies and inventory while supporting responsible cost management.
Travel to learner, employer, work-experience, and community sites for check-ins, support, and program delivery.
Assist with curriculum updates, event support, and other program activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant education in employment services, career development, human resources, social services, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
At least two years of experience in employment support, career development, group facilitation, recruitment, job development, or a related field.
Experience supporting learners from diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
Strong employer-facing skills and the ability to build productive,
respectful relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Current knowledge of the Edmonton and Alberta labour market, community resources, and employment services.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create, edit, and proofread skilled resumes and cover letters.
Strong interpersonal, organisational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
A respectful, ethical, adaptable, and client-centred approach to learner and employer support.
Confidence using word-processing tools, databases, project-management software, and web-based platforms.
Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Additional Requirements
This hybrid flex role is based in Edmonton. The successful candidate must have a suitable home workspace, a reliable vehicle, and flexibility to travel throughout Alberta, with occasional travel to neighbouring provinces as required. Eligible business travel is reimbursed. Some evening and weekend work may be required to support learners, employer partners, and workforce-development events. A satisfactory criminal record check is required. The successful candidate must also participate in annual Cultural Awareness and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training. Site-specific PPE and orientations may be required for employer-site visits.
