The Swim Instructor is responsible for providing instruction in a secure and enjoyable environment and be capable of providing first aid treatment where necessary. The Swim Instructor will be responsible for the organization and preparation of swimming lessons for a variety of students, and have the ability to effectively and efficiently provide instruction and evaluation of swimmers. Other responsibilities will include the maintenance of the pool area to ensure safety and ease of use.

Job Duties

Perform water rescue and first aid when necessary

Provide safe and effective supervision of the pools, splash pad, and deck areas as per Club regulations and policies in addition to the regulations of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 565: Public pools

Ensure that the pools, splash pad, and deck areas are safe and clean, and deck furniture and pool accessories are kept orderly and stored correctly, through vacuuming, skimming, removal of debris and towels, and tidying of furniture, equipment, and supplies

Instruction of swim classes as assigned, with the use of the accompanying core lesson plans

Completion of required daily program administration, including but not limited to:

Maintaining accurate class lists and worksheets

Completion and distribution of all progress cards and awards

Completion of daily attendance sheets and end-of-session statistic sheets

Pool chemical and water balance readings, as required

Ensure that classes are well-organized and effectively delivered (i.e., starting and ending classes on time, screening participants on the first lesson, and providing appropriate feedback as requested)

Other duties as assigned by the Club

Be ready on deck in time for your scheduled shifts. It is recommended that instructors arrive 10 minutes early for their lessons.

Pay

$18.00 per 30 minute lesson,



($32.00 per hour for back to back lessons).

Requirements

Standard First Aid (Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED)

National Lifeguard (NL) Pool

Completion of Swim Instructor course (NLS preferred)

Shift Schedule
Shifts are generally weekdays from 4pm - 8pm depending on our swim instruction requests.
