Position Summary
We are currently looking for a permanent part time (0.74 FTE) Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Worker to join the Mental Health and Substance Use Access Central-Road 2 Recovery (R2R) team based out of the Kelownа Community Health & Services centre in Kelownа, B.C.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled MHSU Substance Use Worker with experience supporting individuals experiencing substance use and/or concurrent mental health and substance use concerns. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in biopsychosocial assessment, treatment planning, individual and group interventions, crisis/risk response, service coordination and transition planning.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, knowledge of evidence-based substance use practices, and the ability to build therapeutic relationships while supporting client self-determination and recovery. Strong communication, collaboration, organization and adaptability are essential to working effectively within a centralized, regional and interdisciplinary service model.

About this department/Unit:
The MHSU Substance Use Worker supports Access Central, which is a current regional virtual service delivered by a centralized interdisciplinary team based in Kelownа. This position will support a centralized, regional, coordinated access to substance use bed-based services, including treatment, transition and stabilization, and supportive recovery.
Access Central is a phone line providing seamless and low-barrier support to adults 18+ through their entire substance use care journey. From detox/stabilization to substance use treatment and aftercare, Access Central bridges critical transition points with sustained, tailored, and trauma-informed care planning and coordination to support those struggling with addiction.
What will you work on?
The Substance Use Worker functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS)
health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons experiencing substance use problems/disorders or concurrent substance use and mental health problems have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services. The Substance Use Worker provides assessment, treatment, service coordination, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Substance Use Worker functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.
Scheduling Information:
Shirt times are days and shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.
Two years’ recent related experience in an alcohol and drug treatment environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current valid B.C. driver’s license (Class 5).
