Drive legislative modernization and support tribunals as a Strategic Legal Counsel in Edmonton with the Alberta Public Service. Work on impactful legal initiatives that enhance justice access for Albertans.
The role within the Strategy and Policy Branch will require you to offer expert legal advice on the governance and authority of administrative tribunals. Your focus will be on evaluating legal and policy challenges while aligning initiatives with the province's legal standards. Your influence in this position will shape Alberta's administrative justice system and involve collaboration with senior leaders across government.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer expert advice on tribunal structure and governance
• Lead legislative development and modernization projects
• Analyze legal issues to ensure procedural fairness
• Assess legal risks from governance and operational practices
• Support framework development across administrative programs
Requirements:
• JD or LLB degree with 11+ years of relevant experience
• Strong background in public, administrative, or constitutional law
• Valuable standing with the Law Society of Alberta required
• Skilled in legal research, writing, and advisory roles
• Proven capability in communication and consultation skills
