Pay Grade The annual salary range is $70,437- $112,872 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.

Position Summary North Island College
The successful candidate will collaborate with staff, faculty and administration to ensure that North Island College provides an accessible, respectful, barrier-free, and supportive learning environment for students with disabilities.
The successful candidate will establish and implement instructional accommodations and supports in a manner consistent with the College’s educational mandate, academic principles and legal obligations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Evaluates diagnostic, educational and interview data to determine accommodations that promote access for students with a wide range of disabilities i.e. mental health, chronic health, sensory, developmental and neurological disabilities.

Approves and arranges effective educational accommodations, supports and services for students in a wide range of College programs i.e. communication access, adaptive technology solutions, testing accommodations, classroom instructional accommodations, tutoring and notetaking supports, etc.

Collaborates with students in planning their education

Support students and instructional faculty in navigating accommodation barriers

Collaborates with educators from across the College region regarding the College’s Duty to Accommodate.

Manages and monitors the use of Student Aid funding allocated for students with disabilities.

Supports students in-person (on-campus and in-community) and through digital platforms.

Required Education & Experience

Masters in Educational Psychology or related field, including coursework in interpreting and translating measurement and individual psychological assessments;





Three or more years of experience recommending and implementing accommodation plans for students with disabilities at a Post-Secondary Institution.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Understands the functional impact of disabilities in relation to post-secondary studies, and utilizes this information to develop and implement effective accommodations plans.

Experience interpreting and translating up to level C assessments and translating results into interventions .

Understands the post-secondary institution’s legal duty to accommodate students with disabilities and how it guides the policy and procedures for the provision of accommodations and accessibility

Works effectively and calmly in a fast paced, high stress area with ever changing demands and increasing student needs.

Works effectively, both independently and as a team member, in student educational services

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Experience working with technology and on different platforms to administer services. Experience using Clockwork preferred.

Experience working with diverse populations including Indigenous students and communities, and international students.
