MacEwan University is seeking a Finance Business Solutions Analyst for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Shared Services Centre of the Financial Services department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative and service-focused environment where your expertise will directly contribute to the success of MacEwan’s University community.

As a Finance Business Solutions Analyst, you will report to the Team Lead, Business Solutions and support the operation and optimization of our financial and procurement processes and systems, aligning with institutional priorities and MacEwan’s Teaching Greatness Strategic Vision 2030. You will be responsible for analyzing, recommending, and leading business solution activity and playing a pivotal role in influencing positive change.

Key responsibilities include:

Optimizing and maintaining systems and reporting

Anticipating, engaging, and collaborating with business partners to solicit and analyze data for business requirements, in order to design and recommend optimal solutions;

Maintaining system configurations and developing queries to meet the needs of clients by supporting business reporting objectives; and

Providing expertise, analysis, and recommendations on internal financial system controls, steering system enhancements and/or new functionality to better serve end users, while ensuring effective risk management within system security administration and configuration controls;

Maximizing solution-based analysis and supporting data integrity





Conducting data analyses using various tools and methodologies to identify gaps between business requirements and system functionality, providing optimal solutions to all stakeholders;

Developing business process risk assessments and treatment solution plans;

Analyzing and report on data trends; and

Contributing to and support strategic decision making by providing relevant data.

Empowering innovative thinking and proactively addressing opportunities within system and business processes

Applying analytical thinking, business knowledge, and subject matter expertise to address key business needs, issues, and pain points, then proactively seeking and facilitating solutions with key stakeholders;

Benchmarking best practices and continually reviewing business processes and workflows for improvement opportunities; and

Supporting the development and implementation of new systems, functionality, and processes.

Being a change agent

Providing leadership and expert advice to end users through communication and training, to promote continuous process improvement;

Utilizing a business analysis lens to introduce and manage change for new system functionality and business operational changes; and

Acting as a change leader within the Financial Services team, while building strong business partnerships and promoting the Shared Services Centre.

Foster a culture of collaboration with stakeholders across the University

Building strong business partnerships to solicit and document business requirements, share knowledge expertise, bridge technology business solutions, train on delivered solutions, or recommend business solutions;

Facilitating meetings or workshops with stakeholders to gather and validate requirements, as well as developing and delivering presentations to communicate findings and recommendations; and

Participating in departmental planning initiatives to develop objectives and action plans as required.

You will have:

The ability to maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive information;

A collaborative mindset with the ability to build solid working relationships with a dynamic set of stakeholders across administrative and academic departments;

High motivation to work effectively in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment as well as independently;





Strong time management and organizational abilities to balance competing priorities and adaptability to meet deadlines; and

Thorough understanding of change management best practices.

Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, information technology, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.

A minimum of 4 years of progressive business analysis work experience, including at least 2 years supporting multiple functional areas (eg. Finance, procurement, contract management) within a medium-to-large organization

A minimum of 5 years of experience in working with a multi-faceted ERP system.

Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Finance and Supply Chain Management system is preferred, or another ERP solution combined with directly relevant on-the-job experience.

A certificate in business analysis or business process management would be considered an asset.

A certificate in Change Management would be considered an asset.

A background in working in a post-secondary institution with demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices and business processes would be considered an asset.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio) as well as the ability to adapt to new software products quickly and effectively.
