Support youth education at the Step Up Step Down Program by enhancing academic experiences while providing essential mental health support. This role requires 30 hours weekly and starts on August 24, 2026.
The Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence is hiring an Educational Assistant for its Step Up Step Down Program. Working with students aged 13-17 facing significant mental health challenges, you will ensure continuity of studies alongside team-oriented mental health treatments. Ideal candidates will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work independently for the benefit of students’ educational and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist diverse youth in an educational setting
• Implement hands-on learning strategies and adapt to student needs
• Collaborate with primary school jurisdictions and community partners
• Participate in treatment planning and goal development
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Requirements:
• Educational Assistant certificate or related diploma
• Comfortable with minimal guidance and working independently
• Experience in problem-solving and behavior strategies
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification is an asset
• Current vulnerable sector criminal record check required
