Join Xyólheméylh as a Guardianship Social Worker in Abbotsford, BC, providing essential services to Indigenous children and families. This full time role emphasizes cultural respect and holistic approaches.
In your role as a Guardianship Social Worker, you will act as a legal guardian for children in care, enriching their lives by promoting cultural heritage and family connections. You will collaborate closely with Indigenous communities, caregivers, and families, actively contributing to the mission of Xyólheméylh and the welfare of children in care across Stó:lō Territory.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build trusting, respectful relationships with families
• Ensure children are connected with their heritage
• Offer culturally informed support services
• Involve community Elders in service planning
• Follow guidelines set by BC Child Protection Policy
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent
• At least 3 years in human services experience
• C6 delegation in BC or eligibility preferred
• Deep understanding of Indigenous issues and history
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
Provide vital support and advocacy for Indigenous youth as a key member of the Xyólheméylh team in Abbotsford.
