Journeyperson Automotive Mechanic

SOUTHLAND is currently seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team of maintenance professionals. This is a self-directed and independent worker's dream role! This role is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a secure, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to Okotoks shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform mobile field work on units as required.

Duties

- Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
- Diagnose equipment problems
- CVIP Inspections
- Respond to breakdowns
- Spring and winter maintenance
- Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
- Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
- Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines

Requirements

- Journeyperson Ticket (Automotive)
- Own hand tools
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- 2 – 5 years of related experience




- Valid Driver's License (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset)
- CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset
- Exposure to working on diesel engines
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors)
- Computer proficiency

Remuneration

- $40.00 per hour
- Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)
- Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation)

- Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
