DESCRIPTION

Fitters at Lopes are responsible for fitting and repairing parts used in the construction of heavy industrial equipment while maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment. They lay out, cut, and fabricate structural steel, plate and different ferrous and non-ferrous metals based on the product specifications.

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, callipers, and rulers from supplied Blueprints or instruction.
- Ensure control of final assembled product in order to maintain specified standards and quality (i.e., dimensional checks, checks items for gouges, notches, or any other damage)
- Troubleshoot
- Perform fitting tasks in a timely manner
- Identify and use appropriate welding standards, specifications and techniques to the appropriate job
- Ensures high level of cleanliness and organization in their working stations/areas
- Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, wire,



and banding machines or hand tools
- Mindset geared towards safety (i.e., equipment safety verification, use of PPE, etc.
- Structural shop - Production of heavy structural steel beams and columns. Layout of all industrial handrail, ladders, and platforms
- Mechanical shop- Layout and sound understanding of cones, hoppers and all related plate work
- Other duties and tasks as required by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years hands-on trades experience in fitting required
- Completed trade schooling or demonstrated equivalent general industrial aptitude
- Ability to work productively independently and in a team environment
- Ability to reads and interprets blueprints and job drawings
- Flexible, self-motivated and driven to achieve customer satisfaction goals and targets
- Basic computer literacy for completion of applicable documentation and training
- Ability to communicate and read in English
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

The employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
