Welder / Fabricator – Full-Time

Grayler Metals Corp is seeking an experienced and skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our team. We are a steel company specializing in metal fabrication, painting, and fulfilling custom customer orders. This is a hands-on position for an individual who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely, and can contribute both independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Candidates must have completed their high school education.

Key Responsibilities

- Read and interpret work orders, fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications
- Read and identify welding symbols
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fabricate and assemble steel components
- Weld beams, plates, connection ends, and other components for customer orders
- Complete special fabrications according to drawings and specifications
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Use power tools for cutting, grinding, fitting, and finishing metal components
- Assemble and fabricate metal structures to required specifications
- Safely rig, position, and move materials during fabrication and assembly
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy
- Follow established welding procedures and quality-control requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and report unsafe conditions to management




- Work collaboratively with other team members to complete customer orders efficiently and on schedule

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 2 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a work environment
- High school education required
- Strong knowledge of welding and metal fabrication techniques
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
- General knowledge of welding procedures and fabrication processes
- Ability to perform visual weld inspections and follow welding quality-assurance procedures
- Knowledge of LPI and other welding inspection procedures is an asset
- Must be mathematically inclined and able to accurately read a tape measure in both imperial and metric measurements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Experience using power tools in a metal fabrication environment
- Ability to safely lift and handle materials up to 80 lbs
- Forklift experience is an asset
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot fabrication issues




- Must be willing to complete a welding performance test and testing on weld symbols, drawings, measurements, and related skills as part of the hiring process

Welding course hours do not count toward the required 2 years of hands-on work experience.

Welding Certification

Candidates must obtain a welding trade certificate available through the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB), where applicable to the position and required welding procedures.

Testing To ensure the right fit for the position, qualified candidates may be required to complete a hands-on welding performance test, as well as testing on weld symbols, blueprint/shop drawing interpretation, measurements, and other relevant fabrication skills prior to receiving an offer of employment.
