- What will the workers be fabricating and welding?
o Aluminum and steel welding – CWB 47.1 FCAW and GMAW, 47.2
- What are the working hours?
o Day shift - Days depend upon which shift, but hours are 6 am to 6 pm.
o Nights which is Monday – Thursday 6:00 pm to 5:30 am
- How many people are needed for days and nights?
o 7 per shift
- What heights can be expected?
o 4 ft but with guard rails in place
- Will the candidates be required to pass a weld test prior to starting the assignment?
o Yes, flat and vertical aluminum and flux core.
Overview The Journeyperson Welder is responsible for the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures to produce production parts that meet customer specifications as well as the fabrication of metal structures using jigs and fixtures in a high paced production environment.
This position will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, and welding according to re-set parameters using MIG, ARC, and TIG welding processes.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Licensed Journeyperson Welder in Alberta.
- Working towards Interprovincial Red Seal or CWB tickets.
- Valid welding certification, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified in all positions.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Solid attention to detail.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
