Job posting
Restoration Technician
About the role
You are the first crew on site after a loss. Fire, water damage, sewer backup, vandalism: your job is to stabilize the situation, prevent further damage and get the building ready for reconstruction.
This is hands-on, physical work. Every call is different and you see the results of your work by the end of the day. No restoration experience is required — we train our technicians in-house.
Key responsibilities
Emergency response:
Respond quickly to loss sites and secure the premises
Perform water extraction and set up drying equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers)
Take moisture readings and monitor the drying process daily
Board up and provide temporary protection for the building
Carry out demolition and removal of non-salvageable materials
Cleaning and restoration:
Perform post-loss cleaning: soot, smoke, odours and mould
Apply decontamination procedures based on the type of loss
Pack out, inventory and move the policyholder's contents
Operate and maintain specialized equipment
Documentation and reporting:
Take before, during and after photos on every job
Complete work orders and daily time sheets
Keep the project manager updated on job progress
What we are looking for
No restoration experience required — full training provided in-house
Experience in construction, renovation, maintenance or cleaning is an asset
Good physical condition (standing work, lifting, confined spaces)
Resourceful and able to work without constant supervision
Reliable and punctual: policyholders and insurers count on us showing up
Respectful and personable: you enter the homes of people who have just lost everything
Valid driver's licence (class 5) — essential for travel to job sites
Available for on-call rotation (evenings and weekends) for emergency response
IICRC certification (WRT, ASD) or ASP Construction card is an asset — otherwise we pay for training
What we offer
Permanent, full time position
Salary based on experience — on-call premium during standby weeks
Training and certifications paid by the employer
Vehicle and equipment provided for emergency calls
Location: Salaberry-de-Valleyfield — service area covers Montreal and Monteregie
