A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ATTENDANT CARE WORKERAs a member of Traverse Independence, you will work within an attendant care team in your location. You will be responsible for assisting adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and/or physical disability with activities of daily living, through booked visits or non-scheduled services. Most clients we serve have a brain injury and with that can come some behavioural challenges, however working alongside those challenges can also bring you a strong sense of loyalty and accomplishment as you support them in their quest to be independent.



Basic responsibilities include but are not limited to medication assistance, lifts and transfers, repositioning, bowel and bladder routines, prescribed therapies such as speech, physiotherapy, bathing and grooming, meal planning and food preparation, feeding, laundry, light housekeeping. On occasion carefully monitored pet care is required. You will communicate effectively with our clients and their families to ensure that they have the best quality of support. You will use your computer skills to keep up with charting and updating all records. This job requires you to have a flexible schedule and reliable transportation.
