I am currently seeking a seasoned Human Resources Manager on behalf of a leading heavy industrial and construction materials firm with operations spanning British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. This is a critical leadership role based in Surrey, BC, designed for a professional who enjoys a mix of strategic partnership and hands-on operational support.
The successful candidate will act as a primary business partner for the aggregate and construction divisions, ensuring that people strategies align with large-scale production goals. You will oversee the full employee lifecycle, from high level talent management and succession planning to day-to-day labor relations and performance coaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee regional HR strategy to ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements.
- Manage labor relations, including grievance handling and contributing to collective bargaining strategies.
- Lead talent acquisition efforts and coordinate comprehensive onboarding and training programs.
- Facilitate the annual performance review cycle and development planning.
- Administer compensation programs, including merit increases and job evaluations.
- Provide data driven insights through HR metrics to improve business processes.
- Champion a rigorous safety culture, ensuring all environmental and health protocols are followed across all sites.
Candidate Profile
- You must hold a Bachelor Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience as an HR Generalist or Business Partner is required.
- You must have a background that combines HR expertise with direct operational exposure, ideally within a unionized environment.
- Professional designation such as CPHR is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and office suites like Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel up to 40 percent of the time to various regional sites.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in organizational development and effectiveness.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities with an understanding of complex organizational dynamics.
- Compliance with safety standards, including being clean shaven for respirator fit testing when required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary ranging from 115,000 to 135,000 dollars per year.
