Thesuccessful candidate will be someone who infuses students with a love of learning, enjoys working withElementary School students, and shares our School’s vision of excellence in education as embodied in theGoals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.This teacher will be responsible for designing and teaching a French language program to UpperElementary (Grades 4-6) students. This is a term position from August 31, 2026, to June 19, 2027. Frenchand Education qualifications are required. The working hours are from 8:0 a.M. to 4:0 p.M., with onemeeting until 4:45 p.M. bi-weekly.Primary DutiesCreating and maintaining an engaging learning environment for students.Planning, designing,



and delivering a French language program with differentiated lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of all learners.Designing and using both formative and summative assessments to inform feedback and guide instructional planning.Reporting on student progress through formal report cards and proactive, ongoing informal communication with students and parents.Leading Parent-Teacher Conferences and following up on areas that need attention.Working collaboratively with classroom teachers on curriculum planning, preparation, and implementation.Working in collaboration with colleagues, learning strategists, students, and their families to address students’ academic, social-emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.Engaging in ongoing career development as directed by CAIS re-accreditation requirements, the SHCOG Action Plan, the Strategic Plan, and any area(s) of focus as articulated by the Principal.Articulating professional goals for the current school year through the Professional Growth Plan, participating in formal/informal observations and reflections, and engaging in ongoing consultation with the Principal through to the completion of a Year-End Summary.Attending and participating in Professional Learning Communities (staff, department, and grade-level team meetings,



etc.).Participating in enrichment programs and developing and facilitating enrichment clusters for students.Living the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria as a role model to students and being comfortable working in a Catholic, faith-based community.Participating in specific Sacred Heart community-building events in support of retention and recruitment efforts.The ideal candidate will have:A Bachelor of Education with a specialization in French language instruction.A valid teacher's license for elementary grades is preferred.Experience teaching French to Elementary School students.Ability to take initiative and work independently while also valuing collaboration and teamwork.Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.Ability to listen, learn, and make connections with students, parents, and colleagues.Ability to create an exciting learning environment that helps students grow in their enjoyment and appreciation of learning a second language.The ability to teach other courses as needed is considered an asset.A transparent and active commitment to the educational philosophy of Sacred Heart Schools.We offer:We offer a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental insurance,and a wonderful work environment.We encourage applications from Indigenous People, African Nova Scotians, and other racially visiblepersons, persons with disabilities, and women.
