Position Summary Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Carpenters or Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers and painters! If you’re passionate about helping people and skilled at making things right, this is your chance to make a real difference.

Compensation

Salary Range: $24-$34/hour

Overtime opportunities (where applicable)

What You’ll Do

Finishing work and fine details, rough and trim

Installation, doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware

Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts

Drywall repairs, mudding, sanding, taping and finishing

Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)

Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing

Insulation and vapour barrier installation

Cabinetry (removal, repair, reinstallation)

Flooring installation and repairs

What You Bring

5+ years of general carpentry experience with the ability to perform a wide range of reconstruction and finishing tasks, including drywall, painting, finishing carpentry, door installation, casings, trims.

Robust finish carpentry skills with a keen eye for detail and quality workmanship

Experience with flooring installation (wood, tile, laminate, and similar materials) is a strong asset





Rough carpentry experience is considered an asset.

Ability to read blueprints, take accurate measurements, and complete work to specification

Must have their own hand tools and be proficient with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment

Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do

Strong people and communication skills

A safety mindset

Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software on iPhone and iPad)

Willing and able to work extended hours when required to meet project demands

Valid drivers license

Ability to pass a criminal record check

Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Of Note: Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
