work in partnership with Correctional Staff within the Correctional FacilitiesProvide effective programming for clientsRole model positive behavior and encourage/support clients to practice self-help and non- violent problem-solving skills dailyComplete and maintain documentation to program standards.Provide and connect clients with services that are risk reductive, integrated, and client oriented.Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of jobPerform other related duties as assigned/neededKnowledge, Skills and Assets:Working knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan.Working knowledge of the characteristics of disadvantaged persons.Working knowledge of Restorative Justice and Harm Reduction practices.Understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.Exceptional writing and case management skills.Strong verbal skills and the ability to communicate professionally.Resourceful, flexible, and well organized.Skilled, responsive, and a positive work attitude.Ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while navigating crisis.Ability to work independently.Must maintain a positive relationship with clients, other staff, businesses,



and government agencies.Demonstrate empathy for those impacted by the Criminal Justice System.QualificationsEducation:Secondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges or University Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or minimum 1 year of practical experience working with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues including homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfarePractical Experience:Working knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system.Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc.Other:First Aid/CPR, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Food Secure would be considered an asset.Valid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver’s License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles.Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date.Capability:Computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)Requires flexibility and availability to work Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.M. to 4:30 p.M.Additional InformationThe above statements reflect general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as the detailed description of all work assignments that may be inherent to the position.Your past doesn’t need to define your future.
