The Skills Specific Trainer is responsible for preparing and conducting certified fitness classes.

Job Title: Skills Specific Trainer

Wage: $28.35 – $30.66 hourly (2026)

Reports To: Supervisor, Lindsay Recreation Complex

Department: Community Services

Location: Lindsay Recreation Complex, Lindsay ON and/or Forbert Memorial, Bobcaygeon, ON

Hours: Normal Working Hours up to 24 hours per week, includes days, evenings and weekends

Other Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements

Job Description

- Prepare and conduct assigned fitness class as per certified discipline (Example types: Zumba, Pilates, Boot, Aqua, Cycling, Rebound Fitness etc.)
- Set up/take down of equipment as required to conduct classes
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- Complete pertinent forms
- Attend staff meetings
- Promote division health and wellness programs
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills/Education Required

- Recognized certifications one or more fitness disciplines required, with a current designation to instruct those classes
- Experience instructing certified fitness classes




- Previous experience in recreation and/or fitness workplace
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR
- Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet and other related software
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, will be require
