Job Description: The Public Health Nurse provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health model. Public Health Nurses translate knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health enhancing behaviours of individuals, families, and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy. Qualifications





- Experience in public health and implementation of The Public Health Act, 1994
- One (1) year of public health experience required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Certificate (BLS-HCP)
- Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing acceptable
- Knowledge in the principles of Population Health Promotion
- Ability to communicate with clients from diverse social backgrounds
- Knowledge of human behaviour, growth and development
- Knowledge of principles/practices of immunization
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access)
- Ability to learn new skills
- Ability to use health promotion and prevention strategies for program planning
- Ability to exercise independent nursing judgement
- Sound clinical judgement skills
- Ability to work independently and as a leader of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of immunology and biologicals used for immunization
