Scope of Position

This position is on‑site in Tiverton, Ontario, Canada.

Salary Range

The full pay range for this role is $21.35 to $50.29 per hour. The target range for this position is $27.00 to $43.00 per hour based on level. Salary decisions are based on internal equity, candidate experience, educational credentials, and location.

Training & Development

Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend a mandatory three‑week training and certification course at the start of employment. The training is in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.

Responsibilities

Technician levels 1 through 5 perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on wind turbines, photovoltaic systems, and energy storage systems. Core responsibilities include:

- Assisting experienced technicians and learning safety protocols (Technician 1).
- Conducting preventative maintenance independently and routine troubleshooting, repairs, and minor upgrades (Technician 2).
- Performing unsupervised routine and corrective maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and leading teams on routine tasks (Technician 3).
- Executing unsupervised advanced corrective and preventative maintenance, leading major repairs, acting as a subject matter expert, training and signing off on Techs 1–3, and assisting with site crew oversight (Technician 4).
- Similar duties to Technician 4 with added senior leadership responsibilities (Technician 5).

Shared responsibilities across all levels:

- Adhere to safety protocols including LOTO procedures and lead site safety assessments.
- Maintain company property and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Accurately complete all administrative work: maintenance logs, work orders, time tracking, warranty and inventory documentation.
- Attend required safety and technical training.




- Support system integrity and budget control by seeking efficiencies.
- Participate in a weekend on‑call rotation for system monitoring and fault identification (levels 2–5).

Qualifications

Experience

- Entry‑Level: 0–1 year in renewable energy or equivalent.
- Experienced: 1–2 years in renewable energy or similar discipline.
- Senior: 2+ years renewable energy experience.
- Expert/Lead: 2–4 years renewable energy experience.
- Minimum: 5 years overall renewable energy experience.

Education

- High school diploma or equivalent for all levels.

Knowledge & Skills

- Basic computer knowledge and ability to follow instructions.
- Basic schematics, multimeter use, and understanding of electrical/mechanical components.
- Deep competency in generation theory; advanced electrical safety, arc‑flash standards, NEC compliance, and proficiency with advanced diagnostics.
- Advanced industry best practices, coaching, and training skills.
- Working knowledge of NEC and OSHA regulations.

Certifications

- Complete all required training upon hire.
- Meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards.
- Competency in system software and industry standards.

Other

- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

- Field work: primarily 100% in the renewable asset field for Techs 1–3; Tech 4 may spend ~20% of time in office.
- Work at height: climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights of over 300 feet.
- Enduring extreme weather conditions and high‑voltage mechanical environments.
- Lift up to 35 pounds regularly and frequently up to 50 pounds.
- Safety restriction: maximum employee weight ≤ 285 lbs for wind‑only fall‑arrest equipment.
