Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking a qualified and passionate full-time Elementary Teacher to join our growing Grade 1 team. We are looking for an outstanding and dedicated educator who is committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning workplace.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and can design versatile, student-centered programs that support academic success and personal growth. This role requires an individual who can motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a strong educational foundation, while building meaningful relationships with parents, staff, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and well-being

Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes

Implement a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based learning

Support diverse learners using differentiated teaching methods

Integrate technology (e.g., SMART Boards, iPads, STEAM resources) into daily instruction

Assess and evaluate student progress; maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents

Develop course outlines and learning objectives in alignment with curriculum guidelines

Maintain strong classroom management and a calm, professional approach in a fast-paced environment

Collaborate with colleagues, participate in staff meetings, career development, and school initiatives

Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community





Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and contribute positively to a faith-based school environment

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or higher from an accredited institution (or equivalent)

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Professional Certificate

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Proven classroom management skills

Understanding of current, research-based instructional practices

Experience integrating technology into teaching and learning

Commitment to inclusive education and student success

Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic school environment

Experience in a faith-based or culturally diverse school setting is considered an asset
