The Ministry of Education and Childcare is actively modernizing Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) career education programs and we need a thoughtful, positive leader to help guide this work forward.
As the Manager, Curriculum & Off-Campus Education you will provide stewardship for provincial K-12 career education curriculum, off-campus education programming, and external learning opportunities. Reporting to the Director, Career Education, this position plays a critical role in shaping the decisions that will help produce high-quality learning opportunities for Alberta students.
Responsibilities :
- Lead the development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of K-12 career education curriculum and related learning resources.
- Provide leadership for provincial off-campus education programming and external learning opportunities, including policy development and program administration.
- Conduct research, environmental scans, and analysis to identify emerging trends and leading practices in curriculum and program development.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with school authorities, education partners, industry stakeholders, and government partners.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in developing recommendations, briefing materials, business cases, strategic initiatives, and policy solutions.
- Oversee branch operations, including staff supervision, project management, contracts, grants, recruitment, workload planning, and training.
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations on emerging issues, opportunities, and challenges affecting curriculum, career education, and off-campus programming.

Qualifications
University graduation in a related field (Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, etc.), plus a minimum of 4 years of related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for on basis.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Research and Knowledge Management
- Solid knowledge of Alberta’s K–12 education system and curriculum development practices.
- Experience applying research and managing knowledge across systems.
- Proficiency with tools like SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and video conferencing.

Government and Education System Knowledge
- Familiarity with key policy documents (e.g., Education Act, Guide to Education, Ministerial Order, Guiding Framework, FOIP).
Assets
- Ability to communicate in both French and English.
- A Master’s degree in a related field.
- Teaching experience in the Alberta K–12 context.
This is a permanent position, and the hours of work are a total of 36.25 hours per week working out of Edmonton.
- Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.
- Parking is not provided for this position.
- Employee annual professional fees/dues are not covered for this position.
