This position offers you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the detailed electrical design and project management of high voltage substation and power projects.The successful candidate will be working in the areas of substations, renewable energy, air & gas insulated substation engineering & equipment between the 5kV to 500kV levels. The candidate should understand substation and power system protection schemes as they relate to the design of protection and control systems.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop protection and control engineering drawings for substation and power system applicationsDesign protection schemes, including relay settings, control logic, control room layouts, and panel layoutsPrepare complete P&C engineering design packages, including drawings, specifications, and construction work packagesPerform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of P&C designs and deliverablesPrepare technical reports that clearly communicate engineering concepts and meet client requirementsCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams (e.G., civil, structural, telecom, SCADA) to deliver integrated designsLead and mentor Junior and Intermediate engineersProvide regular progress updates on assigned deliverables and project milestonesSupport commissioning activities, field engineering, and site troubleshootingInterface directly with clients and provide support in coordinating project executionSupport drafting activities, as required,
to complete deliverablesDevelopment of Project EstimatesQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsStrong safety mindset and commitment to safe engineering practicesExperience developing P&C drawing packages, specifications, and construction documentation for substation projectsUnderstanding of client standards, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations (including Canadian Electrical Code)Ability to support site visits, gather field data, and assist with substation upgrade and expansion projectsProficiency with MS Office Suite, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCADStrong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholdersSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with strong time management skillsDemonstrated ability to support continuous improvement and process optimization initiativesAbility to manage and deliver engineering work in alignment with project schedules and budgetsAbility to work closely with engineers, designers, and project leads to meet deliverable timelinesValid driver's license with ability to travel to project sitesEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Eligible for registration as an Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or equivalent.12+ years of relevant P&C experience; experience working withutilities in North America is an asset (BC Hydro experience preferred).Office Location and ScheduleTypical office environment working with computers.Stantec offers a flexible work environment (a hybrid model of working from the office and at home).Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities,
