Position:

Salary:

This is an in-person position based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Applicants

must currently reside in Saskatoon prior to starting employment.

This is not a remote position.

Regular attendance at our Saskatoon office and travel to client locations in and around Saskatoon is required.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced

Senior Projects Technician

to join our technical team in Saskatoon.

This is not primarily a help desk position. The Senior Projects Technician is responsible for the

technical delivery of client IT projects , including infrastructure upgrades, migrations, deployments, onboarding projects, security implementations, and major technology changes.

You will be expected to take an approved project scope, understand the desired outcome, identify technical risks, develop an implementation approach, execute the work, troubleshoot issues that arise, validate the completed solution, and ensure everything is properly documented before handing the environment back to the support team.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, understands the impact technical changes can have on a client's business, and does not need constant direction to move a project forward.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver client IT infrastructure projects from technical planning through completion

Perform server installations, replacements, migrations, and upgrades

Complete Microsoft 365 tenant migrations and configuration projects

Deploy and configure Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, and related Microsoft cloud services

Implement firewalls, switches, wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs, and other network infrastructure

Perform workstation and hardware refresh projects

Complete client onboarding and infrastructure standardization projects

Deploy backup, disaster recovery, endpoint security, and cybersecurity solutions

Coordinate technical cutovers and minimize disruption to client operations

Review project scopes and identify technical concerns before implementation

Develop implementation, rollback, and testing plans for significant changes

Troubleshoot complex technical issues encountered during project delivery

Coordinate with vendors, client contacts, and other technical resources when required

Maintain accurate technical documentation throughout each project

Update network diagrams, credentials, configurations, asset information, and client documentation

Perform post-project testing and validation

Complete proper technical handoff to the support team

Follow established change management and approval processes

Escalate risks or scope concerns before they become client-impacting problems

What We Expect From a Senior Technician

The word

Senior

matters in this position.

You should be capable of being assigned a project and taking meaningful ownership of its technical execution.

That means being able to:

Think beyond the immediate task and consider system-wide impact

Research and troubleshoot unfamiliar issues independently

Recognize when something does not look right

Stop and escal

Communicate technical concerns clearly

Test your work rather than assuming it worked

Document what was changed

Take responsibility for seeing technical work through to completion

We do not expect anyone to know everything. We do expect senior technical staff to demonstrate strong judgment, accountability, and problem-solving ability.

Technical Experience

Strong experience in several of the following areas is expected:

Microsoft Windows Server

Active Directory and Group Policy

Microsoft 365

Exchange Online

DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP networking

Firewalls and VPNs

Managed switching and VLANs

Hyper‑V and/or VMware

Backup and disaster recovery systems

Endpoint protection, EDR and MDR platforms

Server and workstation hardware

PowerShell

IT documentation platforms

PSA and ticketing systems

Experience working within an

MSP or multi-client IT environment

is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

5+ years of qualified IT experience preferred

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

What This Role Is Not

This position is not intended to be primarily:

Entry-level IT support

Password resets and basic desktop support

A project-management-only role

A remote position

A position where every technical decision is provided through a step-by-step checklist

There may occasionally be escalations or support work that requires senior technical expertise, but the primary focus of this position is

project implementation and technical delivery .

Success in This Role

You will be successful in this position when projects are:

Properly planned before implementation

Completed accurately and professionally

Delivered with minimal disruption to the client

Tested before being considered complete

Properly documented

Completed according to established change management procedures

Handed back to the support team in a stable and supportable state

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who treats client infrastructure as

business-critical technology , not simply a collection of servers, computers, and tickets.

Compensation

$70,000–$85,000 annually , depending on experience, technical capability, and demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex IT projects.

This position is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and requires in-person attendance. It is not a remote role.
