Your Opportunity
In this position as an Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist, you will work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for public and private sector clients. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a energetic work environment.
As an Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist you will complete tasks on water and wastewater facilities, and conveyance pipelines projects such as pump/lift stations. Work performed will be under the general supervision of a Senior Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist or Engineer.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Support the project team in development of design, documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
- Perform calculations to analyze and design electrical system components.
- Draw on proactive and analytical problem‑solving skills to deliver robust electrical models.
- Assist in the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary design team.
- Develop and update equipment and tag lists.
- Review documentation such as shop drawings for key technical information.
- Conduct site observation and/or inspection activities during design or construction phases of the project.
- Work closely with the Electrical Engineer and engineering group in recommending the best use of project tools to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues with the project tools.
- Perform thorough quality control of construction documents and provide design ideas and solutions.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Ability to work with others on large complex projects.
- Working knowledge of electrical CEC code and industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, API, and CSA.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Proficient in relevant software programs including AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
- Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
Education and Experience
- Electrical Engineering Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of experience.
- Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in electrical system design and drafting on water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
