In this role, you will provide technical accounting expertise, lead complex initiatives, and support the accurate accounting and reporting of capital assets. You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, strengthening internal controls, supporting business partners, and mentoring team members while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.What You Will DoProvide technical accounting expertise by independently performing complex accounting activities and applying specialized knowledge of Capital Asset accounting, policies, standards, and related accounting matters.Review and oversee accounting activities by validating the accuracy, completeness, and quality of work performed by team members, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, supporting documentation requirements, and internal controls.Lead projects and strategic initiatives impacting the team and business stakeholders by developing work plans, managing deliverables, resolving issues, and ensuring successful execution of priorities.Provide leadership and support to team members through work coordination, coaching, mentoring, training, knowledge sharing, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing and collaborative environment.Partner with stakeholders across the organization to resolve complex issues, support business objectives, provide accounting guidance, and represent the team in cross-functional initiatives and discussions.Research, analyze, and recommend solutions for complex accounting and business issues, including technical accounting matters, capital asset classifications, improvements in execution, and operational challenges.Drive continuous improvement and risk management by finding opportunities to enhance accounting processes, systems, controls,
and business practices while proactively monitoring and addressing risks and emerging issues.Maintain a strong control and compliance environment by ensuring adherence to SOX requirements, internal controls, regulatory obligations, tax considerations, and company policies and procedures.Apply broad business knowledge by understanding Enbridge's legal entity, Line of Business (LOB), and Operating Unit (OU) structures, as well as the commercial agreements and business activities that impact capital accounting.RequiredPost-Secondary education in Finance with emphasis in Accounting.A minimum of 6 years of direct experience in an accounting environment.CPA designation is requiredExcellent problem solving skills. Ability to Identify unusual and omitted items, to address complex issues encountered in the performance of job duties.Ability to balance the big picture issues with the detail.Outstanding interpersonal skills combined with a business results oriented approachShare knowledge, experience and training with all team members in a collaborative mannerAbility to complete non-routine and/or complex assignmentsIndependently assesses, exercises sound judgment and accurately resolves complex issues that arisePossess in-depth financial software skills (excel) and accounting system/ERP software skills (Oracle, SAP, etc.)Persuasive and clear written communication and verbal communication skills to communicate and influenceOrganized and capable of balancing multiple priorities independently for both self and team.PreferredIndependently leads component providing coaching, direction and review of work performedExhibit boldness and courage to communicate dissenting or unpopular viewpoints in business discussions and drive clarity of understanding of the team's perspectives with all levels of the organizationFormal and informal on-the-job training,
