Take the lead as a Community-Based Researcher within the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government, driving community engagement and research initiatives. Support vital projects by facilitating collaboration, tracking progress, and implementing work plans effectively.
This fixed-term position reports to the Executive Office’s Senior Researcher and emphasizes Indigenous-led decision-making. You will oversee initiatives like the Listuguj Land Code and co-governance efforts for the Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site. Your role includes community outreach, background research, and the creation of content that fosters understanding and participation.
Key Responsibilities: • Develop workplans and track milestones with the negotiations team • Monitor community needs and issues,
providing regular updates • Coordinate the implementation of the Listuguj Land Code activities • Establish plans for the Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site • Conduct community engagement through surveys and focus groups
Requirements: • Post-secondary education or relevant experience in research or Indigenous studies • Proven experience in community-based research and facilitation • Robust communication skills for reports and briefings • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines • Knowledge of Mi’gmaw governance or culture is an asset
