Develop recent features and capabilities for actuarial applications built with R Shiny Design and enhance user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS Develop shared JavaScript components to improve maintainability and accelerate feature development Refactor R code to leverage reusable JavaScript components where appropriate Collaborate with actuaries and stakeholders to understand business challenges and refine requirements Translate business ideas into practical software solutions Build and maintain automated test suites for UI components Follow software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement Help shape the technical direction of a growing suite of actuarial applications Requirements
5+ years of experience in software engineering Education or equivalent experience in a quantitative discipline such as actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field Strong JavaScript, HTML,
and CSS skills Experience structuring UI codebases for maintainability Ability to independently design and implement user interfaces Experience with R or other analytical programming languages such as Python or SAS R experience strongly preferred and willingness to learn R Solid software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, code review, and effort estimation Ability to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and technologies Experience customizing R Shiny components using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS Experience using agentic development tools to improve, refactor, or generate code Core Competencies
Demonstrates expertise in developing and enhancing actuarial applications using R Shiny, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, while applying strong software engineering practices. Capable of collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective software solutions.
