As a Resource Team RN, you will be available to float to all units of the hospital as required.
Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Up to 3 months Nursing Experience
- Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues
- Transparent understanding of MHA and relevant legislation
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
- Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical complications related to mental health and addictions
- Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses
- CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum)
- Evidence of continuing professional education
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations
- Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
- Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions
- Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO)
- Experience with evidence-based nursing care to youth with early onset mental illness
