Temporary Full-Time assignment for approximately 18 months
Sinai Health is seeking an experienced and highly motivated communications skilled to join the Corporate Communications team as a Senior Communications Specialist. Reporting to the Director, Communications and Public Affairs, the successful candidate will conceptualize, develop, execute and measure end-to-end communications activities to support corporate and operating plan initiatives aligned to our five year strategic plan.
The ideal candidate is a self-directed and driven communications professional who thrives on collaborating with clients and colleagues to develop and execute successful communication strategies. About This Team
The Corporate Communications team contributes to the overall success of Sinai Health by building and sustaining the organization’s reputation through effective communication and engagement with diverse stakeholder groups. Our team collaborates extensively across all departments to embed best-in-class communication practices into every facet of Sinai Health’s operations.
In This Role You Will

- Develop and execute communication plans from end-to-end, while collaborating across teams and keeping stakeholders informed through strong organization and project coordination skills. You have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and new communication opportunities
- Influence clients and partners with regard to approach, tone, content and timely impact of communications. Act as the communications expert by providing counsel and recommendations on communications activities
- Apply creativity and innovative thinking to proactively identify and support enhancements to communications activities. Your analytical thinking links communication strategies and plans to organizational objectives
- Drive initiatives from initial concept to final delivery. You are methodical and comfortable in solving business problems, quickly grasping complex subject matter and explain it in a simple way that others understand
- Collaborate with peers, from Communications, Digital Communications and Creative Services, to deliver communication plans
- Supervise, motivate and train the Communications Assistant,



ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work and organizational performance, continuous learning. This includes assigning and reviewing of work
- Mentor team members, and encourages innovation in others
- Recommend procedures and practices to improve the efficiency of the department and the role, as well as ensuring communication strategies and tactics are successfully implemented
- Evaluate and measure the success of your work to ensure continual adjustments and improvements are made in the way we deliver effective communications
- Actively contribute to a positive and productive working environment
- Support the organization’s reputation through proactive and reactive issues management, e.g. research and develop key messages, issues briefs and provide support in responding to stakeholder issues and inquiries
- Research and draft media materials (news releases, advisories, Q&A;, etc.), and facilitate media requests and inquiries, as required
- Act as the after-hours Corporate Communications representative on a rotational basis
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Mandatory

- Successful completion of a degree/diploma from an accredited educational institution in a relevant discipline e.g., Communications, Public Relations, Journalism
- A minimum of 5-7 years recent and related experience at a specialist level working in a complex, fast-paced organization; experience supporting communications for large projects or change initiatives is an asset

Skills and Knowledge

- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering end-to-end communications plans to support corporate strategies, public awareness campaigns, corporate communications, media relations and issues management situations
- Leading practice knowledge of communications planning and execution
- Proven media relations experience in dealing with journalists
- Experience in mentoring and leading colleagues, with the ability to motivate team members by recognizing potential for growth and continued learning




- Extremely organized with excellent project and time management skills to manage competing priorities that are time sensitive and complex in nature
- Demonstrated superior writing, editing and communication skills
- Proven success in analyzing issues to resolve problems and identify improvements
- Demonstrated experience in quickly building and maintaining effective and productive working relationships in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. Working effectively with a diverse group of clinical, non-clinical and external stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with superior communication skills and a high-level of accountability; skilled in customizing communications for a variety of audiences and channels
- Ability to work in a diverse working environment recognizing that different opinions and backgrounds can bring strength to the tasks at hand
- Strong computer skills and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
