The role provides individual and group-based support to enhance clients’ social, emotional, and psychological functioning, often within a community school setting. The Child Youth Care Worker/Practitioner provides supervision and ongoing assessment in a safe environment and teaches strategies to clients experiencing mental health challenges.Key Responsibilities(May Include but are not limited to):Client service & treatment support:Teach age-appropriate activities to support treatment goals; identify academic, behavioural,



and social needs; modify programming to meet individual needs; meet individuallywith clients to discuss treatment and goals; complete assessments and set goals with clients.Treatment planning & family communication:Review treatment plans and safety plans with families as needed; prepare treatmentreports; communicate with families, parents, and individuals to provide information and support.Day treatment programming:Monitor students, answer questions, and assist with academic assignments in collaboration with the classroom teacher; provide structured social interactions with peers and staff; implement hourly incentive programs where applicable.Counselling and direct client support:Provide individual, group, and/or family counselling services as assigned by the Centre/program team; act as a role model to support problem-solving, self-esteem, and social skills; mediate conflictsand monitor behaviour, identifying issues and taking corrective action as needed.School and community coordination:Support integration into mainstream schools or other programs by monitoring progress, meeting with guidance counsellors, instructional program leads, principals, and teachers, and recommending strategies to support successful transitions.Service coordination & community partnerships:Participate in service coordination meetings with school and board representatives; set up case conferenceswith school and community partners; consult with service providers to communicate information, resolve problems, and support seamless service delivery.Outings, transportation & medication support:Coordinate and attend outings as determined by the program; travel to client homes or schools and transport clients when needed; administer clientmedication in accordance with agency policies.Team and agency support:Work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team; attend staff meetings, case conferences, and team meetings; provide debriefing opportunities for peers; represent and promote Woodview in the community; participate in ongoing evaluation of program activities.Documentation & administration:Enter daily contact notes in the client file; maintain requiredreports and recordings; author clinical reportsincluding assessments, treatment plans,



and closing reports; complete intake and assessment tools within agency timelines.Professional development & accountability:Participate in a personal plan for continuing professional training and growth; remain current with Woodview philosophies, operating practices, policies, and procedures; perform other tasks as assigned by management.Qualifications:Minimum2 years’ experienceworking with children and youth with emotional, behavioural, or social challengesChild & Youth Care Worker/Practitioner diploma from a recognized community college, Social Service Worker diploma, or equivalent education, experience, and qualified training suitable for the client populationDemonstrated understanding of systems theory as applied to family, school, and communityDemonstrated high standard of counselling and professional skills, including the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary teamAbility to implement strength-based and evidence-based practices within clinical service programsAbility to interpret and comply with Woodview policies and proceduresStrong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and capacity to relate to clientsAssets:NVCI, ASIST, DBT/CBT/ABA trainingAdditional InformationWork may occur in classroom settings on a daily basis and in the community for occasional outingsHours generally follow school days, with occasional evening group activitiesUse of a personal vehicle may be requiredThis is a permanent 10-month position (September - June).We thank all candidates but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.Woodview welcomes applications from all qualified individuals, including individuals within employment equity categories of women, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and aboriginal persons, individuals of diverse gender and sexual orientation and all groups protected by the Human Rights Code.
