You will be responsible for establishing a scalable, high-quality, and defensible BCA/PCA practice, including developing field teams, standardizing inspection methodologies, and implementing QA/QC systems. As the technical authority and Engineer of Record, you will ensure that all assessments align with ASTM standards while delivering clear, decision-focused insights for lenders, investors, and property owners.Key ResponsibilitiesService Line Development & Technical LeadershipEstablish and lead Vertex's BCA/PCA service line, including methodology, standards, and delivery modelDefine what constitutes a high-quality, defensible assessment, with a focus on clarity and capital planning insightAct as Engineer of Record,
reviewing and sealing reports in accordance with provincial regulationsServe as the primary technical authority for all BCA/PCA and reserve fund workField Team Development & TrainingBuild, train, and mentor a team of technologists, inspectors, and field staff, leveraging Vertex's broader technical team as neededDevelop standardized inspection protocols, checklists, and guidance toolsImplement a scalable model where field staff collect data and senior technical review ensures quality and consistencyEnsure consistency in data collection, photo documentation, and deficiency identificationQuality Assurance & Delivery ModelEstablish and oversee QA/QC processes to ensure all reports are accurate, consistent, and defensibleReview field data and reports to ensure appropriate assumptions, limitations, and cost opinions are appliedManage risk by ensuring transparent communication of scope, limitations, and uncertaintyProject OversightOversee project execution across a portfolio of commercial, industrial, and multi-residential propertiesEnsure deliverables meet timelines, budgets, and client expectationsSupport complex or high-risk assessments directly Strategic Growth & Market ExpansionSupport expansion into reserve fund studies / depreciation reports and the condominium / strata marketAssist with proposals, client relationships,
and growth of the BCA service line across Canada and the U.S.Identify opportunities to integrate services with ESA, roofing, and building science offeringsThe Opportunity (Role Context)This is not a traditional project management role.
