Position Overview

TheGeomaticsTechnologist will work on a wide range of projects from land development and strata/air space work, topographic and rights-of-way surveys, surveys for infrastructure and capital works projects, construction and monitoring surveys, surveys on First Nation lands and many other diverse types of surveys. TheGeomaticsTechnologist will work primarily in the field under the direction of a Project Manager leading the Survey process on sites and supervising the Survey Assistant.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Work closely withProjectManager/Land Surveyor to ensure survey procedures are followed and project expectations aremet.
- Performvarious typesofsurveys that may include legal, topographic, right of ways, construction layout,as builtand engineering surveys.
- Collect data in the field using a variety of tools including data collectors, robotic totalstationsand GNSSreceivers.
- Prepare clear andaccuratefield notes and sketches.
- Ensure collected data isaccurateand standard survey procedures have been followed.
- Maintain survey vehicle andequipment.
- Work with clients in a professionalmanner.
- Perform survey computationsin thefield.
- Assistin training and developingnewteammembers.




- Follow all safety guidelines provided by Aplin &Martin.;
- CompleteFieldLevelHazardAssessmenton a dailybasis.
- Assist theProjectManagerwithorganizing and scheduling for the following days’field work and coordinatingwiththe SurveyAssistant.
- Clear vegetation and debrisin order formeasurements to be taken.
- Upload and download survey dataon adaily basis; and,
- Any other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

- SurveyTechnology Diplomaandat least5, preferably more than 10years’ experience insurveysetting, preferably in Lower Mainland.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with field crews, project managers, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, witha high levelof dependability, initiative, and attention to detail.
- Strong working knowledge of robotic total stations, conventional survey technologies, and GNSS solutions.
- Must havedemonstratedexperience with high-precision monitoring and construction layout, including the ability to work to tight survey tolerances and accurately interpret and apply engineering and construction drawings in thefield.
- Abilityto interpretlegalsurvey plansand legal survey evidence
- Proficient withLeica survey equipment and software, including Captivate and Leica Infinity/GeoCloud
- ATransport Canada Advanced RPAS (UAV) Pilot Certificateis considered an asset.
- ExperienceoperatingUncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) and sonar/bathymetric survey equipmentis considered an asset.




- Experienceoperatingterrestrial laser scanning equipment, such as theLeica RTC360, is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while also working effectively as part of a survey team.
- Willingness to undertake occasionalovernight and out-of-town work, withthe majority ofwork occurring within the region.
- Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings and weather conditions.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying survey equipment.
- A validBCdriver’s license, with excellent driving record. A driver abstract will berequired.

Compensation

Thehourlyrange for this position is$38 to 48 per hour,commensuratewith experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
