About the Role

The Company is in search of a Vice-Provost for Indigenous Engagement, a pivotal role that demands a respected, relationship-centered Indigenous leader. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the next chapter of Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, and institutional transformation. This includes the strategic implementation of the Indigenous Strategic Plan, fostering meaningful change, and strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities, students, faculty, staff, and partners. The role also involves championing Indigenous student success, providing academic leadership in indigenization,



and ensuring that the institution's policies and practices align with the diverse realities of Indigenous peoples.

The ideal candidate will have a solid Indigenous identity and lived experience, preferably connected to local communities, and a background that includes an earned doctorate or equivalent experience. They should have a proven track record in building reciprocal relationships, leading strategic initiatives, and promoting Indigenous scholarship and community-engaged approaches. Key attributes for this role include exceptional relationship and consensus-building skills, strategic thinking, excellent communication, and a commitment to accountability, transparency, and shared responsibility. The candidate must be a courageous leader, capable of guiding the institution through meaningful change, and be adept at working within complex organizational environments.
