Integrity Reforestation is looking to hire an assistant cook for our 2026 spring/ summer planting season in Ontario. If you have a passion for cooking and a strong positive work ethic.
Position title The Assistant Cook supports the daily food service operations of our remote reforestation camps across Northern Ontario. This role is essential to maintaining the high nutritional and morale standards required for crews planting millions of trees each season.
Working directly under the Head Cook or Camp Cook, the Assistant Cook helps prepare meals for approximately 70 workers, handles kitchen organization, dishwashing, sanitation routines, and contributes to smooth, productive service during breakfast, lunch pack-out, and dinner.
This is a physically demanding, fast-paced position ideal for someone who enjoys high-energy kitchen environments, thrives in team settings, and is comfortable living and working in a remote camp.
Work Conditions
Remote bush camp setting, typically May–July depending on contracts.
Long workdays, often
10–12 hours
with split shifts (early morning + evening).
Fast-paced kitchen environment feeding large crews.
Work may involve cold mornings, heat, mud, bugs, and rugged camp terrain.
Meals provided while in camp.
Required
Strong work ethic and ability to stay organized under pressure.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting 25–50 lbs regularly). Ability to wake early and maintain consistent daily attendance.
Positive attitude, teamwork, and willingness to take direction.
Commitment to safety and cleanliness.
Preferred
Previous experience in cooking, food prep, catering, camp kitchens, or hospitality.
Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation procedures.
Valid driver’s licence (helpful for supply runs).
Experience working in remote or outdoor environments.
Compensation
$30/hour
Expected to work 10 hours/day
All meals,
and transportation between camp and work sites included.
