Position Summary BCIT’s
School of Transportation
is seeking
three (3) regular, full-time Faculty
in our Heavy Equipment Group at our campus located on Annacis Island in Delta to deliver training in our apprenticeship and foundation programs.
Duties & Responsibilities This full time position includes instructional responsibilities such as: teaching provincial curriculum; short-term coverage for Faculty release; preparing and presenting classroom lectures, course delivery and assessment materials; providing practical demonstrations; and working collaboratively within our heavy equipment team and with the Department Head.
The program curriculum includes the instruction of disassembly, inspection, overhaul, servicing and reassembly of many types of off-road heavy duty equipment and commercial trucks. This ranges from class 8 semi tractors and transport trailers through to bulldozers, front end loaders, skid steers and excavators.
Qualifications
BC Trades Qualification with Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Heavy Duty Mechanics
BC Certificate of Apprenticeship in Heavy Duty Mechanics
BC Trades Qualification with Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Commercial Transport is an asset
A minimum of five years’ recent journeyperson industry experience (more preferred)
Ability to Instruct the full scope of heavy duty curriculum including tracks and undercarriage
Documented experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy duty or off-road equipment
Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Current computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint: ability to manage files located on a database
Previous supervisory or leadership experience would be an asset
Documented experience working as an Instructor in a post-secondary or industrial setting within a team environment is an asset
