A leading Vancouver-based retail and apparel organization is seeking an AI Tooling Governance Engineer to support the responsible, secure, and scalable adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools across the technology organization. This role will establish and operate governance frameworks that ensure compliance, consistency, and operational excellence as AI developer tooling continues to expand.
The ideal candidate brings a robust governance mindset, experience working across distributed engineering teams, and the ability to translate complex technical considerations into clear, actionable policies and leadership-ready reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Define, document, and maintain governance frameworks for enterprise AI developer tooling
Operate workflows for license management , policy enforcement , usage compliance , and exception handling
Ensure responsible scaling of tools such as GitHub Copilot , Claude Code , OpenAI Codex , Cursor, and similar AI engineering platforms.
Develop repeatable reporting, documentation, and operating rhythms to support sustainable governance
Translate technical governance posture into risk, compliance, and operational updates for senior leadership and audit stakeholders
Coordinate governance accountability across engineering, architecture, security, and other partner teams
Support budget oversight , vendor coordination, and contract-performance monitoring
Identify governance gaps, control weaknesses, and operational risks, and drive corrective actions
Required Experience
4-5 years experience in enterprise governance, technology compliance, or platform operations
3–5 years experience with policy enforcement, usage compliance, operational controls, or exception workflows
3+ years preparing risk, compliance, or audit-ready reporting for leadership
3–7 years cross-functional experience with engineering, architecture, or security teams
2–4 years vendor coordination, contract monitoring, or budget oversight in a technology environment
Strong written communication and documentation skills
Familiarity with developer platforms , internal engineering tooling, or AI-enabled engineering workflows
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strong judgment around risk, controls, and operational tradeoffs
Ability to influence outcomes without direct authority
Skilled at organizing ambiguous work into clear workflows, policies, and accountabilities
Comfortable balancing strategic governance with day-to-day operational execution
