Our current needs
As part of the creation of the Engineering Department, Nord Quantique is building a new Quantum System Validation team responsible for validating that logical quantum performance is preserved as systems scale toward deployment-ready quantum computing platforms.
We are seeking a highly motivated experimental physicist or engineer with experience in quantum systems, cryogenic experiments, and large-scale validation environments. Experience with superconducting quantum systems is an asset.
The mission of this role is to execute and develop validation methodologies that characterize system-level performance, operational robustness, and long-term reliability of integrated quantum computing systems under realistic scaling constraints.
More specifically, this individual will contribute to long-duration validation campaigns,
characterize scaling-induced variability and emergent error sources, support system bring-up activities, and help establish the reliability foundations required for future utility-scale and deployment-ready quantum computing systems.
Keys responsibilities:
Define and execute system-level experimental validation campaigns
Characterize logical and physical performance under scaling-induced variability and emergent error sources
Perform long-duration stability and drift measurements
Support integrated system bring-up and operational robustness testing
Validate calibration workflows, boot-up sequencing, and hardware–software orchestration
Contribute to failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and reliability qualification activities
Develop automated validation and characterization workflows
Analyze experimental data and communicate findings to cross-functional engineering and research teams
Support development of deployment-readiness criteria, acceptance metrics, and performance-gating methodologies
Education and experience requirements:
PhD in electrical engineering, experimental physics, quantum engineering, systems engineering, or a related field
Relevant experience in quantum technologies, superconducting quantum hardware, or complex cryogenic experimental systems
Experience executing experimental campaigns in multidisciplinary environments
Sought expertise and knowledge:
Circuit QED and superconducting quantum systems
Cryogenic experimental systems
RF, microwave, and pulsed measurements of superconducting quantum systems
Experimental automation and calibration workflows
Data analysis and statistical interpretation
System-level validation and performance characterization
Reliability engineering or long-duration stability testing, an asset
Python programming and version control best practices, an asset
Advanced level in English, to communicate with international team members
Intermediate knowledge of French, an asset
Sought profile:
Strong engineering mindset
Strong experimental rigor and analytical thinking
Systems-thinking mindset
Team-oriented and collaborative
Adaptable to evolving technical priorities
Clear and concise technical communicator
Comfortable operating in highly interdisciplinary environments
Motivated by solving long-term scalability and reliability challenges in quantum computing
Nord Quantique is committed to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in its training, workplaces, and activities. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds and traditionally marginalized groups.
