Role Overview
Reporting to the Director,Business Developmentand Joint VenturesNorth America,theSenior Analyst,Business Developmentleads the financial assessment ofinternal investment decisionsfor the North Americamanagement team in business strategy and decision-makingthrough the qualitypresentation of data.
The Senior Analyst, Business Development works closely with the North America and project teams on numerous initiatives including investments and commercial business opportunities related to the North American operating and non-operating assets. The incumbent works under a moderate degree of supervision and must develop substantial working relationships with other departments in the Company, e.g., Joint Ventures, Operations, Project Development, Legal, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhering to safety and environmental rules, and articulating SERA considerations in strategic assessments.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Tecks North American assets and projects.
- Utilize detailed, flexible financial models,
applying sound reasoning and analytical processes to assess input and output quality. - Perform business evaluations to identify critical value and risk drivers, and assess sensitivities to critical assumptions.
- Review business opportunities in collaboration with other functional groups, including:
- Provide economic analyses for internal investment decisions and negotiation strategies.
- Draw on expertise/resources from necessary functional groups to complete comprehensive and thorough assessment of opportunities.
- Support presentation and information packages for senior management decision making.
- Assist in preparation of North America Unit material for internal / external stakeholders, including development and review of Board, Executive Leadership Team and Investment Committee materials.
- Support project funding opportunities including government funding applications, partnering processes, and project financing.
- Management of joint venture relationships and governance processes, including coordinating internal alignment and implementing best practices.
- Support the Director of Business Development North America and Joint Ventures in executing strategic initiatives, providing project management skills to track workplans across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Degree in Geosciences, Geology, Mining, Processing, Engineering,
Finance or Sciences is required. - Minimum of 5 years work experience in a mining analytical role with appropriate qualifications, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Operational experience, particularly in an underground mine context, would be considered an asset.
- Financial modeling expertise: develop and interpret financial models with a robust understanding of business drivers.
- Requires the use of MS 365 Suite: Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, etc.
- Ability to apply sound reasoning and analytical processes.
- The incumbent will be a "student of the industry", constantly seeking to develop the background and expertise to contribute to industry and operation specific discussions.
- Ability to interact with senior management, partners and other stakeholders through strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management skills to coordinate multidisciplinary working groups and manage strategic initiatives.
Pay Range
CAD $122,000 - $150,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
