Summary Of Duties
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has an opportunity for a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive swallowing and communication services to patients in General Medicine. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with patients, families and interprofessional team members to provide evidence-informed best practice
Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To The Following
Assess, plan, implement and monitor swallowing and communication impairment interventions
Maintain patient records and workload measurement in accordance with facility and professional standards
Act as an SLP resource to the SLP team, the interprofessional team, families and students
Maintain and upgrade skills and knowledge through continuing education and seek opportunities for knowledge dissemination
Participate in SLP clinical education and interprofessional education activities
Participate in SLP Qualified Council,
Program and hospital-wide meetings, committees and planning as required
Practice in accordance with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
Qualifications/Skills
Current CASLPO registration
Previous experience working with medically complex patients in an acute care environment
Experience with dysphagia and communication assessment and management
Experience with video fluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing required
Experience in assessment and management of patients with tracheostomies would be an asset
Previous clinical teaching experience preferred
Excellent communication and time-management skills and ability to work as part of an interprofessional team
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
