Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, has an opening for a Learning & Development Coordinator to join our Calgary office.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Learning and Development, the Learning & Development Coordinator supports the Human Resources and Professional Services team in the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs and initiatives in the Calgary office and across the firm. The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of the learning cycle, including needs analysis, program planning, instructional support, learning platform administration, program logistics, facilitation, reporting, and the development of learner resources to support engagement and adoption.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating the planning and delivery of training and learning sessions for business services staff and legal professionals as required
Supporting all logistics for in-person and virtual training sessions and events, including calendars, scheduling, room bookings registration and confirmation as well as pre- and post-delivery activities
Collecting and reviewing feedback from post training surveys. Tracking and reporting on training completion, participation.
Supporting communications including reminders before sessions, preparing and sending materials and follow ups
Developing supporting learning materials (e.g., reference guides, handouts, FAQs) to enhance user adoption and learner experience
Providing deskside coaching and floor support for firmwide rollouts, training programs, and key initiatives. Troubleshooting during live training sessions in person and virtual.
Incorporating innovative approaches to learning, including digital tools, AI-enabled solutions, and modern learning methodologies
Maintaining organized storage and accessibility of all materials including templates, guides and past communications
Qualifications
Education & Experience
College or bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in the development, facilitation, and delivery of training in a blended learning environment, or equivalent experience
Experience in a legal or professional services environment is considered an asset
Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational, data management and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail
Ability to apply sound judgement when interpreting learning needs, policies, and procedures
Identifies and resolves issues related to program delivery, logistics, and learner engagement
Analyzes training data and feedback to identify trends and support continuous improvement
Client-service oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a quick-paced environment
Creative and adaptable, with a willingness to contribute ideas and support change initiatives
Passion for learning and continuous development
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (advanced)
Other legal software tools considered an asset
