Legal Research & Analysis: Investigating statutes and regulations to support senior counsel and build case strategies.
Drafting & Review: Preparing legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and correspondence.
File Management: Assisting with file organization, managing critical deadlines, and handling client intake from inception to resolution.
Client Communication: Acting as a point of contact for clients, gathering necessary information, and updating them on the progress of their case.
Court & Tribunal Support: Preparing materials for mediations, discoveries, and hearings.
Administrative Compliance: Keeping detailed dockets (time tracking) and managing corporate records.
Core Qualifications Education: A Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree.
Licensure: Admitted to the bar and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, licensed to practice.
Experience:
1 to 3 years of post-call experience.
Legal Tech Skills: Familiarity with practice management software PCLAW, document review platforms, and research databases like LexisNexis.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous proofreading and organizational skills, especially when handling contracts or court filings.
Time Management: The ability to juggle multiple files, tight deadlines, and competing priorities.
Communication: Robust written and verbal skills for drafting and confident client interaction.
Adaptability & Eagerness to Learn: A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a willingness to absorb mentorship from senior lawyers.
